Ahh, 6 weeks...well tomorrow

Where, oh where is Baby Clevinger??? Natalie emailed us today to tell us that she had spoken with Belay and that our dossier has been completely translated! That is exciting, just to think that at some point this week they had a conversation about the Clevinger family!! Since this is the millennium in Ethiopia we expected no news this week! We are sure that they are partying over there!!! I think back to when we celebrated the millennium, it was a load of fun! I was a senior in high school!!! Can you believe that???!?! Now, seven years of college, many tuition dollars, a marriage, a doctorate, and a new house (part of a new house) later I am blogging about how the millennium is being celebrated in the country from which my first child will come!!! Life is amazing!!

Tomorrow is 6 weeks that we have been waiting. When we started waiting Cortney and I picked dates that we thought we would have our referral by as goal of sorts. He picked a really early date that passed a week or so ago and I picked tomorrow. I figured six weeks was about what families were waiting for boy referrals so Sept. 14th is my day. Now that we know that this week is the week of celebration my date seems to be out as well!!! October 16th is our wedding anniversary so it would be GREAT to have it by then, if you are reading this Natalie!! (I wonder if they do read blogs???) Anyway, I am going to post some pics of our house project.

In the beginning there was a tree...

Did I say tree? I meant GIANT SEQUOIA!!!

Then there was a stick....

And the men with their chain saws cut the stick into pieces.

Then came the block...

Next they started putting brick on the block....

Stay tuned for the rest of the house!!! We hope it will be here soon!! We spent the evening picking out windows, shingles, bathtubs, showers...etc. It was a fun time that kept my mind off the referral for awhile!! Hopefully the referral will come soon and I can spend my time buying baby stuff to put in the house!!!

Girl, you have your doctorate? Way to go! I sooo hope you get that referral tomorrow....they've had a day already to recover from their 2000partying...back to work people:)That would be so fun if it was the date you picked in the beginning. I just have this feeling that it is going to be soon...that is why I check you blog a million times a day. The house it coming along...can't wait to see the end result... you'll have to post lots of pictures. Amy

Yeah, you have some bricks...how fun!! I can't wait to see more.
I hope tomorrow when I read your blog there will be that post we are all waiting for. It seem like it has got to happen for another one of us soon. I bet with the millenium being over the referrals will start pouring in (ok...maybe I should say I hope instead of I bet)!! Let'start working on our name letters and before you know it we'll have a baby to go with them!

Thanks for the post, Lindsey! Here's hoping for referrals for both of us! My friend Anne, who also requested a girl through Gladney, got hers in 13 weeks. When she traveled a few weeks ago, she told me there were like 19 babies at the Gladney home, but she didn't know the sex or ages of the babies. I crossed over this week from crazy anticipation to more of a tranquility. I'm still so anxious for the referral, but part of me is settling in for it to take longer than the window Gladney originally estimated for us. Who knows, I could be crazy anxious again tomorrow... We're trusting in God's perfect time and trying to enjoy the ride and the special memories we're making. So far, this has been the greatest experience of our lives! Thanks for your prayers -- and keep em' coming! I'll do the same for you =)

I know...the last referrals I've seen have been July referrals and August travel. The Bauer family got their referral in July too and traveled in August too. I have been following them for a while now..but their blog wasn't public. But, I just saw that Glandney put it on their blog list. It is listed under uniquely woven. Their little Zane is so cute. He was 4 1/2 months at referral. We still don't have our letter...even though they told us a week. I want to be waiting for my baby...not a piece of paper! Maybe things have been so slow with referrals because of the court closures and also all the millenium
whoha. I hope referrals speed up now...and week 6 will be your week.

I have been waiting for the "six weeks and counting" post! I have also been checking your blog like a crazy person, just hoping to see a picture of your baby or something! I really do feel like the winds are changin' and it will happen soon! Since I am such an expert on the matter. :) Not to get your hopes up or anything...

To answer your question, no I haven't heard a thing from my agency since a few weeks ago when she got those 5 referrals. My niece told me today to call her and find out what is going on and when more referrals are expected. She is 9 and a little excited:-) I almost did call but then thought about not wanting to be a pest. This is getting tough I must say. Maybe next week!!

I'm going to email Gladney about the blog I found that said it's not necessarily in the order of waiting, because I had the opposite impression. And once again, I'll read into Mary's every word to see if I can glean any new insights! Insanity, thy name is Carey!

On the bright side, Sherlock Daileader said she's on the case!

What is your doctorate in? You look so young to have already been in school 7yrs and in the working world. I hoping too that the flood gates will open soon.

Hi Lindsey,
I've been waiting forever for a post! Glad week 6 is past, here is the good news...I think it is easier after you receive the referral- even though we are waiting for a court date I feel so much better just knowing that we have our kids matched to us. I'm so busy trying to make everthing perfect that the time is flying. So hang in there once it happens everything moves into high gear and it's great! I can't wait to celebrate in your happy news!

I have a friend in Pharmacy school, she was in Memphis for her first year now she has moved to Knoxville for her last two. She too is planning a wedding and marrying before completion. She said the first year was hard but nothing compared to what she has now. Glad to hear you will be able to stay home with Ian. We hail from Murfreesboro, TN (boro of Nashville).

I promise, I promise. And I'm really good at looking sweet and innocent, while really being rude and nosy, so I feel confident that I'll get some info. That being said, you could easily get news while I'm over there. I will keep eyes and ears peeled and let you know ANYTHING I find out. Our wait was 9 weeks, but one thing that isn't on our blog is that it took a month from the point that Sophie was put into the Gladney home before we got our referral b/c of the health testing, paperwork, etc, so Ian could EASILY be there and just waiting for the red tape to show his precious face to you! Our dossier was delivered to Belay basically at the same exact time that Sophie was! It's so amazing to me to look back at my calendar to see what I was doing on her birth date, the date she was relinquished, the date she came to the Gladney home, etc. I agree with Renee - the time from referral has flown (now that the first few weeks of court closure are over) b/c there is just SO MUCH TO DO! I can't wait to share any news/pictures I come by. Hang in there!

I bet you must be out of your mind with anticipation! Before you know it, though, you'll be scrambling to get ready for his arrival (unlike waiting for a referral, the time between referral and travel goes by FAST!)

Hang in there!!
